Philadelphia Union has named YSC as its OFFICIAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PARTNER!
Philadelphia Union and its Official Youth Development Partner, YSC, are pleased to announce Union Juniors schedule and details for the 2011-2012 season (see Selection Process Overview below for details on Pool descriptions). The Union/YSC youth academy program is a club-neutral, FREE of COST, supplemental training / competition program for the region's top youth players. The Union/YSC youth model follows a "club and country" format, whereby you will remain registered and playing for your club team, but will get "called-up" to represent the Philadelphia Union during Union/YSC youth academy training sessions and/or games. This innovative model enables Philadelphia Union/YSC to work in a collaborative manner with your youth club in developing you as a player. Selection into this FREE of COST program is a tremendous accomplishment and an important step in your growth as a player.
We look forward to the opportunity to help further develop players skills, understanding of the game, as well as understanding of sports science (nutrition, sports psychology, fitness, recovery, etc.), Over the next 12 months, we will provide a chance to participate in a program designed to complement youth club team activity. Our objective is simple: we want to help players become the best player they can be. The Union Juniors program provides an opportunity to receive top-level training with a very high-quality peer group creating the ideal competitive environment for expediting development.
As ambassadors of Philadelphia Union and YSC, we ask players to lead by example by embracing the ideals of sportsmanship and ethos of hard work. Being selected into this program is not a guarantee of future success, but with hard work and the right attitude the lessons learned while pursuing their dreams will be with our players for life both on and off the field of play.

SELECTION PROCESS OVERVIEW
The YSC Union Juniors program will consist of two player pools enabling the program to positively impact the development of a larger number of youth players. It is important to understand that every individual develops at his or her own pace. YSC Union Juniors coaching staff are 100% committed to developing EVERY player. Pool selection is based on what YSC Union Juniors staff feels is best at this stage for your son/daughter's personal development.
SELECT POOL: The Select Pools will consist of approximately 24 players per birth year (for both boys and girls). The Select Pool is comprised of those players the coaching staff and evaluators feel are best prepared to experience the YSC Union Juniors program in its fullest capacity at this stage in their development. The Select Pool will have its own schedule of specific training session dates and times for each birth year.
BOYS DEVELOPMENTAL POOL: The Developmental Pools consists of approximately 30 players per birth year (pool size depending on age group). New for 2011-2012, in order to enhance development opportunity, the Developmental Pool will be divided into two groups based on month of birth within each birth year. Group I of the Developmental Pool will consist of players born in the first half of the birth year from January 1 through June 30.
